Zi (Zi - Learn Mandarin Daily) helps English speakers learn useful Mandarin Hanzi, a few words at a time — each with pinyin, an English meaning, and tap-to-hear pronunciation.

Getting started

1. Open Zi — you'll see today's words, one at a time.
2. For each word you'll see the Hanzi, its pinyin, and the English meaning.
3. Tap the speaker button to hear it pronounced.
4. Move between words by swiping or using the arrows.
5. Tap Learned when you know a word, or Save to keep it for later.
6. Use Topics to choose the kinds of words you want to learn.

Reminders

• Turn on a daily reminder in Settings to get a gentle nudge to study.
• You can pick the time, or turn reminders off at any time.
• Reminders are local notifications on your device. If you don't see them, make sure notifications are allowed for Zi in your device's system settings.

Pronunciation

• Tap the speaker icon on a word to hear it.
• Pronunciation uses your device's built-in voice. Quality and the available Mandarin voices depend on your device; some devices let you download additional Chinese voices in your system speech/accessibility settings.
